I have a Whitfield Profile 30-2 and the control seems to be AFU. I ended up buying a so called Harman 05886 board, allegedly new, off ebay. I am 76, was first licensed as a radio amateur in 1965, and spent 68-74 as a Navy electronics tech, ETR-2, maintained GCA RADAR and TACAN, ended up at NAS Miramar in San Diego for 4 years. So I do have some electronics.

1...The seller pictured the board with a pigtail, but that was not to be. I tried to ID the Molex ? connector with no luck so far. I may have to break down and buy a Harman Harness. I have also thought about simply soldering wires to the board connector

2...I was unaware of all the new vs old boards? I've been using a P43 manual as a reference, but the pointers on the supplied knobs do NOT MATCH the photo of the control board label. Whether installed 1 way or 1/2 turn off, the pointer direction makes no sense in relation to the label. Did I get a China knock off?

3...I have a red thermister on the way and intend to install it in the Whitfield. The Whitfield used a photocell for flame proof, which is convertible to a snap switch. I may try to do that, ??

It also has a pair of hi limit snap switches in series with the auger. I intend to leave them there as added insurance.

I had this (the original stove and board) running with mixed results. The seller told me he "thought" the board was bad and it appears he was right. I have checked the safeties, bypassed them temporarily, and cleaned the cad cell window as well as checking it's change in resistnace. I am convinced the board is AFU

Anyhow any thoughts or hints on the conversion?

I only paid $100 for the stove, the burner pot, etc seems to be in good shape. On a side note, I also have a little Whitfield Prodigy II and it seems to work pretty well. I don't use it much, in the basement. I am also fighting with house fire restoration, not related to the heating system.

Thanks. Del in N end of Idaho state

The only issue i see that will be troubling is the preprogrammed auger timing in the harman board. Will be different to the whitfield. Auger differences, rpm, timing. Can you post pictures of what you are working with? I have molex in stock i may be able to get you part numbers.

It may have been an easyer swap out to do an Enviro/ Sherwood industries board, they can be preprogrammed for multiple stove btu’s.

These boards seem to be somewhat programmable as they have dip switches for several different models they were used in

Photos stolen from here: (if this works LOL)

As I mentioned, this is the "05886" board

This is the label that goes with the board. As I mentioned, one concern is that whether installed one way or 1/2 turn "out" the knob pointers do not match the label rotation area. I'm hoping someone knows why

The board, as pictured in top photo sits 1/4 turn to left, with dip switches at top. You may be able to see that the pots have an almost rectangular hole, and the knobs/ shafts can be inserted one way or 180 "out" Whichever way they are inserted, the pointers do not match the label markings

So far as the molex, this may not be a molex per se, but a knock off. I'll have to find some calipers or mike. I've had a house fire and most of my stuff is gone, missing, or stacked haphazardly in storage. I DO have a hack/ plan to get it "fired" and tested. This connector is 11 pins inline, while the old Whitfield is 2 rows of 8. I "hacked" it by putting two missing pins in one side, and that will take care of all but the power "in" position. For that, a 4 pin connector will do with just one pin "stuck" in for now. Bear in mind this is only for testing.

I dont work on Harman so I’m tagging out.
