I hope someone can help with this, and thanks in advance.

A while back, I went to clean my chimney and noticed something between liner segments. It almost looks like a crease, or bend. I just don't know how to describe it. I tried to take a pic, but I don't know how succesful I was.

Any rate, maybe take a look at this picture and see if anyone can identify what is happening here, and most importantly if it is safew to burn in this condition.

Is this a 2-ply, smoothwall liner?

Did the install bill say what was put in?

This was in my house when I bought it. I bought this house in 2012 and it was constructed in 1990. I don't know if they ever re-lined the chimney between those two dates.

I’m no expert, but if that’s where two sections of the liner join, there should be a metal coupling/transition piece connecting the two. Otherwise they would come apart.

It looks like a ply delaminating, but I defer to bholler for an expert opinion.

Yes definitely the inner layer of a light wall 2 ply liner that got snagged and is now distorted
