Bought house last year, haven’t been able to open tee cleanout. Dont love that its inside but thats beside the point. Also haven’t been able to find any set up that looks similar on the forum…joys of home ownership. I’ve removed thumb screw and removed the bar but nothing else seems to move. Hesitant to try too hard as to not break anything and cause a bigger problem. Any suggestions on what to try?

Normally those are not hard to remove. That said all the ones I have removed have been located inside.

I would try a small dental pick (Home Depot, Lowe’s, or a good hardware store should carry them). With the pick hopefully you would be able to catch an edge.

As a last ditch effort I would drill a hole and put in a sheet metal screw to allow you to grab a hold of it. Leave the screw in to seal the hole. I wouldn’t be too concerned about the screw not sealing 100% since it will be located out doors.

Good luck. Maybe another member will have a different solution than drilling a hole.

Maybe the leave blower trick will work and you won’t have to remove the plate.

Just make sure you’re trying to turn it the correct way, I deal with this at work a ton and it still gets me every now and then…also put a baking tray underneath, it’ll catch most if not all of the ash
