Hello,
Would like help / opinions / experiences from any all If you would not mind too fight through this long thread.
some information..
I am stationed here in Fairbanks Alaska. Currently its -43 (not cold yet). I will not be using the fireplace for my main source of heat, unless fuel gets out of control (as if its not already). My house is 2800sq ft give or take. It is a Two story home with normal height ceilings. I will be doing all the demo on the fireplace that is there now and also the finish work. I am looking for efficiency but also looks. The unit will be in the corner.
*I want duct run from the unit to the front door (20ft) to blow the heat when I want, but also want the heat to come out the front of the unit at the same time. I want to be able to turn the front door heat vent off and still have the unit front blower going.
I am in the market for replacing my fireplace with one of the units I’ve been looking into.
Supreme Plus
Delta 2
Would like to know what anyone here has paid for them and also feed back on the two listed. good, bad and suggestions or other options.
I’ve been quoted here in town from two places, one was 12,000+ and the other was 7,000+
both estimates where just for the unit, supply’s, install / labor, with no demo and no refinishing. I will be doing the demo and tile / stone work. I contacted one dealer on the web that was based in Michigan, asked for estimates on both units I listed above, I got it back and was shocked.
*Supreme Plus - everything needed to install it was $6,239.00 (unit price alone with no supply’s 3,499.00)
*Delta 2- everything needed to install was $7,814.00 (unit price alone with no supply’s 3,599.00)
both had the shipping cost $900.00.
Is there a way of cutting out the middle man on buying the fireplace insert ? I think the mark up on these are way out of hand seeing that that I got a bid of 7,000+ to install it with all the pipes. I'm wondering what that guy in Michigan is doing ( doing well I would think). I know this is America and we have free enterprise and that’s why I wont buy the item of the guy in Michigan. I know people need to make money to keep there business going and I don’t mind paying someone, but I also work for a living too and pay bills so I have to keep an eye out.
Constructive help / opinions / experiences please.
Also pictures of jobs before and after and even step by step as I may install this myself.
Thank you.
