Hi all, hope you experts can help me find the best standalone wood stove for my house in this existing fireplace. Looking for wood stove, not a wood insert. Fireplace sits in basement that is roughly 1,800 sq. ft that is below the first and only other floor of another 1,800 sq. ft. Looking to use this wood stove as my primary heat source in the winter with mini-split system as a backup as needed. I figured that since the 1,800 sq. ft. is doubled up/stacked on top of itself, that i probably need to find a stove that heats up to 2,200-2,400 sq. ft. If you think a smaller one might suffice because of the stacking of the floors, let me know!

Obviously, clearance is my biggest issue with 31.25inches and you can imagine how much i don't want to mess around with removing stone above it to expand it.

Because of the height restraint, i was looking at the Osburn Inspire 2000 OB02042 model and i could put some custom iron blocks under it for air flow and still fit within my height constraint.

PS - Bonus points if highly efficient and will qualify for tax credit.
PS - don't mind the floor, in the middle of a renovation. And if needed, i can put a fire/heat proof flooring in front of it for clearance if the ledge is required for the stove placement.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions/advice!

Looks like an old heatform style fireplace. I wouldn't rule out an insert though strong draft could require a key damper in the flue before the liner. Take a look at the Jotul F55. It's big, can be rear vented, and has a short leg option. The PE Summit with legs would fit as a top vented stove. It's 27" high.
Some other stoves could work, but they would require cutting down the legs to clear the lintel.

I will second the two above options. I will add you will probably need a blower down on the floor blowing on the back of the stove to move the heat out. A damper in the appliance adapter and a block off plate.
