Help me choose the best pellets?

Try a few bags of different brands to see what works best for you. Every stove will vary a bit depending on the brand, and set up. The fireside ultra did work very good in my englander 25 pdv, and they may be the ones that worked out the best for me.
You need to call around in the area in which you live. Find out who has what for wood pellets. Then just start trying a minimum of 2 bags. Like other people have said in here....every stove is different. That's why you need to experiment. Obviously some wood pellets suck in every stove. LIKE ...Athens and Corniths. My stove loves Green Team and Fireside Ultras alot. Plus LG Granules work great too. So do your homework and you will answer your own question in time. Good Luck

Blazer or Atlas, Gold Fire, I burn BLAZER from Home Depot 199 a ton. DO NOT BUY FIREMASTER clear bag, with a little flame on the bag.... Too much ash...

Any pellet that has not been stored outside for a long period of time. Moisture breaks the density down. Bad density will cause sooting, clinkers, and clogged vent and augers. Ask questions before you buy.

I agree with the indor storage. I bought a ton of the lignetics that everyone on here is raving about and they suck. My stove is a st croix afton bay and my first ton this year were somerset from lowe's. They were great, hardly any ash, few clinkers, then got the lignetics, tons of ash, no clinkers, lots of dust and fines in the bags. the stove now has very small to almost no flame on low setting. but some of the bags had gotten wet and thus the pellets are crap now.
fast636 every stove is different i had the luck of getting lignetics here in canada and they are the hottest burining of the 4 brands available here in atlantic canada. to say they suck i dont think so. key words in your post wet dont blame lignetics. yes fine ash but that no biggy we have to maintain our stoves anyway. i find door glass cleans off easy burning lignetics.bought 110 bags nov 2008 wil buy them a gain without a doubt.

I have burned about two tons each of Cleanfire and Barefoot. They are both good but Cleanfire is better. Hotter burn with fewer clinkers. At least that's my experience with my Quad 1200i.
I just tried a bag of Green Supreme and my stove loved them, great heat and hardly any ash. These may be as good as Lignetics IMHO. Pre-bought 3 tons of NEWP and they're okay, but I much prefer the Lignetics and Green Supreme.
As the others have mentioned, it is best to grab a few bags of a brand to try out
before commiting to buying them by the ton. Each stove is different and
some people may love a certain brand while others hate them.

We've tried about 5 different kinds of pellets this year (it's our first year too) and so far, my favorite is Granules. They burn super hot and super clean.
Actually, when we first put the stove in we were really disappointed in the heat out put, and thought that we had made a huge, costly mistake. But when we bought these Granules pellets we couldn't believe the difference. The burn pot wasn't filling up, the glass was staying cleaner longer, way less ash. All in all a great pellet.

Generally softwoods burn hotter and leave less ash than hardwoods. I've used hardswoods, pine and fir pellets... the fir are by far cleaner and hotter than the rest but do cost a little more.
I have used six different brands in my stove and they all have been satisfactory... just that some are better than others.
If your stove is kept clean I don't really see any problem using any pellet as long as they are a known quality.

I have not been impressed with the Hammer Hot ones. I feel the fireside burn cleaner but perhaps not as hot. Lignetics are the best
well I am new to all this but so far I have burned 1 bag of stove chow, seems to burn great then burned 3 bags of freedom fuel and that too burned great but now I am trying 3 bags of greene team and they too seem to burn great....so I am not sure if I am missing something but so far everything seems to burn great with great heat output...or am I missing something?
