Hello,
I am planning to install the Jotul F 445 Holliday and am having trouble designing the hearth. In the installation manual it says that the minimum hearth dimensions are 33"W x 40"D:

However, the stove dimensions are 26 1/4" W x 25" D:

1. If you add 6" to each side of the 26 1/4" W stove, you get 38 1/4". How did they get 33"?

2. Doesn't the hearth pad need to extend to the back wall? If the stove has to be a minimum of 6" in front of the back wall (assuming minimum clearance to combustibles based on using double walled stove pipe and a rear heat shield) wouldn't the hearth need to be 6" + 25" + 16", or 47" deep ?

I had purchased a stove board which is 32"x42" but I'm realizing it's probably not big enough.
Thanks so much for any help you can provide.

It looks like the 6" is from the stove body, not the top lid which projects a bit further out. If the unit is rear vented then usually the hearth needs to extend under the stove pipe. The drawing shows this but doesn't indicate full depth, probably because this is going to depend on the installation.
