Trying to get everything together to install the piping for my VC Intrepid 2 stove. I'm going to use double wall inside and then triple or class A ( is there really a difference) from inside to outside. Do I need the ceiling support box, how would I use it in this application? Do I cut it to the angle of the ceiling and push it up to the sheathing? Can I use the "rubber boot" style flange on the metal roof?
Any suggestions on how to go about this are greatly appreciated!
I would like to use Duravent as both home depot and tsc are close by to the cabin. Thanks!
Edit: not sure if it matters the floor to top plate is 9' About 10'6 where the chimney pipe will go rhru metal roof.

I will answer one of your questions.

Forget the rubber boot flashing. While they look convenient, imo they are completely unsatisfactory in a class A chimney application. Even in a B vent, I'd say.

Use a factory or custom made roof jack.

Imo.

Oh, and do you have proper clearances from the stove to the concrete board? Or an air space behind it? If that board is mounted directly on the wood, it is the same as wood for clearances.

Oh, and another reason not to use a silicone roof flashing is that they are ugly. Very ugly.

Imo

Yes I have all proper clearances met. Even went a few inches beyond what is needed

I'm not sure how to use the factory one that comes with the kit. If it were an asphalt roof I would have no problem, just looks like it's not made for a metal roof application without big gaps.

My cathedral ceiling support box dropped in from the outside and had a flange that attached to the sheathing from outside. Most will tell you not to use the silicon boot and they aren't the best but mine's been on for quite a few years and it works. I spaced my cement board away from the wall with metal framing, don't know what you have but a 1' air space would be fine. You'll have to measure from the stove up to make sure you have enough chimney/pipe for a good draft.

Do you remember what size boot you bought? The ceiling box I saw was 14"×14" . I would need a large boot to cover that.
