Height of Tarm from the floor

OK, new SS chimney is all installed, next step is the precise placement of the Tarm.

Tarm recommends placing it on 8" blocks, and I just wanted to see if that was the consensus here as well? Would there be any benefit to placing it even higher? Plenty of overhead room in the shop. Don't want to obsess over ever detail of my install but that decision would be real hard to change after the fact...would loading/cleaning/operation be better/easier with an even higher platform?

Mine is on 4" blocks, works great. I came out of the back of the boiler with a T, facing up and down. I capped the bottom of the T and I just remove the cap for chimney cleaning. That way everything falls right into a bucket under the T.

8" is perfect for the ash can the sell. Make sure the blocks are far enough apart for the ash can to fit between and the height is perfect.

I went with 8 inches. The ash can fits right under the bottom door. I works
well for me.

Go with whatever height you want. IMO the reasons for setting it up off the floor are 1) provide room to work on components (wrench space, etc.), 2) provide room to dump ashes into an ash container, 3) keep the bottom of the boiler away from moisture/condensation that may form on a cement floor, especially during the summer when the boiler might not be used, 4) prevent water from coming into contact with the bottom and not being able to dry out quickly, such as from a leak or spill.
