My husband is a Mr Very Handy and he has tried tightening up all the connections but we continue to get a slight smell of propane from the stove - its about 5 years old, is burning perfectly - just seems like we have a fitting problem - its leaking in a valve underneath the stove, Mr Very Handy won't take a picture - how do we effectively tighten up the valve or replace it?

First you need to find out EXACTLY where the gas is coming from.
One way to do that is with an expensive ($200-300) electronic gas "sniffer."
The other way is to use a "bubbler" or gas leak testing solution.
You can buy it at hardware stores of you can mix it up yourself...
  • Fill a quart jar with clean water.
  • Measure and add 3 tablespoons of dish detergent.
  • Add 2 teaspoons of liquid glycerin to make the bubbles last longer, which makes them easier to detect.
Let us know how you make out...
