Good morning,
I am trying to reconfigure the stove pipe in my living room, and was considering switching my Hearthstone Heritage 8024 to the rear vent. It looks pretty straightforward from the manual, but is it a good idea ? The plan would be to pull my stove a little further from the wall and install a tee with cleanout at the back of the stove, then a straight shot up into the chimney. Currently I have to use 45 degree offset elbows near the ceiling due to clearance issues where the stove sits. The stove pipe is all double wall, and enters into a 20+ foot run of metalbestos through the roof of the house. I'm hoping the nice long chimney would help to compensate for the draft lost through the rear vent, but I don't know. This new configuration would eliminate the offset elbows and also keep any loose creosote from falling down inside the stove, which tends to clog up the area around the flapper from time to time. Any help much appreciated.
