I am removing 2 granite slabs (12x36in ea.) that is my current hearth for my VC Intrepid coal model. I am placing down a Fischer solo door front loader that vent out the back thus using a 45 degree elbow to butt up to vent to chimmney.

I want my hearth 36 x 48. No fancy brick n mortar stuff.

What are some hillbilly cob job recomendations.

I may run out to a local salvage reclaimer and look for some used slate in one or two sections.

Buy a hearth pad and lay it down, put stove on top, done.
