Had stove installed a few weeks ago. Hopefully burning more dry seasoned wood. Noticed this build up of these stuff on my liner and wondering if I should be concerned and what is causing this?

It flakes off easily

Improper insulation is my guess, unfaced fiberglass melting due to heat.

At what temperature does fiberglass insulation melt?

Fiberglass insulation begins to lose structural integrity at around 1,000°F (538°C) but doesn’t actually melt until reaching approximately 2,200°F (1,204°C). The glass fibers maintain their fire-resistant properties throughout their service life.

Yes thst thought crossed my mind.

But I hope the outside of that inner liner is not getting up to 2200 F... I'm not sure that can happen unless the inner liner has a hole. (And even then; I've never seen my probe above 900 F)

That was inside the stove.

If the outside of the inner liner reaches 2200 F, there are bigger problems.

I agree, point being that it can apparently melt at lower temperatures. Could be some off brand chinese insulation that was sitting around that the installers decided would make a good "block off" for the guy.
