Hello,
I recently purchased a home that came with a Greenfire GF40 pellet stove. We were having some issues and had it professionally serviced and everything seemed to be fine. I noticed after he left that the ash pan wasn’t properly seated and when I fixed it the flame started burning low and fast. If I leave the pan seated incorrectly it burns normally but as soon as I fixed it it burns low. I’ve tried adjusting the air trim but it does not fix the problem. What’s confusing me is if the stove is drawing in extra air though the improperly seated ash box shouldn’t fixing it make the flame tall and weak and not short and fast? It took us months to get a service tech out so I’m hoping to be able to fix this myself but I want to ensure I’m adjusting the damper correctly. The photos I’ve included show how the ash box is improperly seated, the high flame with it improperly seated and the low flame with it properly seated. Any help is appreciated.
