I posted on craigslist to take trees. Got this response.

Hi,
Got a huge oak tree that fell in my yard a couple weeks ago. I've attached a picture.
Probably about 50 feet tall, without even getting near the stump & roots.
About 2 feet in diameter. Let me know if you're interested.
I live in Morris Plains/Parsippany off Rt 53 near Rt 10.

Sweet! Go get it! How far away for you? Cheers!

It's too big for me, dont have the chainsaw for that... Wanted to give someone else on here the heads up. I gotta go buy a huge chainsaw...

That thing doesn't look that big. It certainly is not big for an oak. Looks like some great fire wood for somebody.

What do you have for a saw? I'd be all over than with my Craftsman 42cc with Oregon Chain.
The root ball isn't that big, so I think a saw with a 16" or 18" bar would be ok for that....unless you don't have a vehicle to haul it?

Per his signline: Echo CS-3450 ( I think this is a ~33cc saw that comes with a 12" bar)

I'm with Dave on this one. Looks like an 18" bar would suit that job. Heck for that wood i'd go buy a pull on for a $100

Round here we call those baby oaks , why not rent a bigger saw and give it a go. Will make a nice load of wood for next seasons stash.

I think even my wimpy Homelite with a 16 inch bar could have that trunk cut into 16 inch pieces in a few hours. Add a few more hours cutting branches, and all that is left is to haul it home. Oh, yeah, then split it, stack it wait two years... Point is, with a reasonably straight-cutting saw, you don't need a bar longer than the tree is wide. You need a little more than half the diameter. I'd put some blocks or logs or something under the trunk before i started. Then when I cut the runk into sections it will rest off the ground for easy cutting.
