Graphite Powder (for squeaking)

Anyone else use Graphite Powder when their stove starts to squeak or squeal?

I really can't say enough good things about it. Last year, I would go crazy cleaning my stove to get the squeaking to stop... sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't.

This year I purchased graphite powder. Wow... like an effing charm.

Whenever my stove starts to make any high pitched noise, I simply empty the hopper, put a handful of pellets in a small plastic bag, put a few puffs of graphite powder in, shake it up, and dump them in the hopper.

Seriously, the sounds stop within minutes.

Maybe it's just me, or maybe it's just my stove... but if anyone out there is having noise trouble with their stove, definitely try graphite powder. For less than 3 bucks, you can't go wrong!

I've posted about doing this several times in the past. I've had 100% success with it. It doesn't take much and you don't even have to mix it in a bag... Just put a little on some pellets in the hopper and mix them around. As soon as they feed through the auger the sqeeking will stop.

Most hardware stoves should have it. Might even find it at the big box stores too!

I have used it several times it works like a charm, just the many useful information you find here

several years ago i talked with a Traeger service guy who dropped that one on me , i have recommended it ever since, it does work well in a lot of cases . graphite is inert, so it cannot burn its also a contact lubricant, these features make it the perfect lube for moving metal parts in a flame containing device such as a pellet or corn stove. most places that cut keys will have it , our local lowes carries it as well as several area hardware stores, the most prevalent use is to free up rusted lock tumblers on padlocks and such exposed to the elements, it works very well on that as well.
