Was reading an article in the New Yorker about bushfires in Australia.
"Some eucalyptus, of which Australia has more than 700 species, produces significantly more radiant heat when burning than the wood of other trees....
"It is possible to be looking at a fire front more than a thousand feet away and then, in an instant, be surrounded by flames....
"As I waited in a parking lot, I walked over to a semi-trailer that looked as if it had been detonated from within. The exhaust stacks drooped outward and thick rivulets of melted aluminium lay congealed in the gutter beneath."
I guess California brethren have a treasure trove in all those eucalypts on the west coast :coolsmile:
