Hey folks, i havent been around much but i was out back tonight splittin and stackin so i thought i'd take a pic and drop back in.
It was a beautiful fall night in the low 50's with a bright orange harvest moon peakin over the trees. Sure does make ya proud standin there lookin at all your hard work.

May sound strange to some, but I call that the good life. Something about harvesting wood in the cool breeze of fall, the leaves blowing around, the smell of the burning gas and some smoke from a fire nearby. The sun setting early so you have to quit, go home and still have time to put on a fire and enjoy. Yes, the good life!

Im hearin' , and Im concurrin' :smirk:

Sounds good to me. Rather than splitting wood I was sitting 20' up in a pin oak watching a bunch of deer. Very relaxing indeed. As for the moon, too many clouds here to see it. I always like that big ole orange moon coming up in October too.

The Harvest Moon is the first full moon of autumn. Actually yesterday was the second full moon of autumn, called the Hunter's Moon -- which explains BackwoodSavage being up in the tree...

Yep your right. I forgot this was the second full moon. Deer round here dont move till after dark on a full moon so i didnt wanna spend my time watchin squirrels and coyotes lol. Although sittin in a treestand on a nights like these sure does take your mind off things.

Hey SmokinPiney, nobody has ever told our deer about that theory and I hope they don't. I did see around a dozen deer last night with one being a buck but too far out of range and too small anyway.

One thing I do usually like about the full of the moon is that I've usually noticed more mid-day activity with the bucks.

Yeah they're pretty smart here. They wait a good 30mins to an hr after legal time to move on a full moon. They can feed all night in the moonlight then head back in to bed before the sun comes up. Tricky little suckers they are!

And they should be just about comin into the rut soon if not already. Although it's supposed to get warm again and that'll probly throw em all outta wack lol.

looks good, and so does the first gen. dodge in the picture. Diesel?

Thanks! Yep she's a 91.5 cummins 4x4. Just a baby compared to my 2nd gen cummins but she runs like a top!

Zap, it's mainly white, red, and chesnut oak but there's some maple, mulberry, hickory and pine mixed in.
