Well, I'm going against everything I've ever preached and I'm going to buy some firewood.
Long story short, I had a cord of seasoned wood that I gave away to a less fortunate family just before christmas.
People in my area are charging $50-$60 for a "rick", more accurately a face cord, or 1/3 of a cord.
I've looked at craigslist and several sellers have pictures posted of the wood for sale.
None of it looks to be seasoned, but then again, I don't know when the photos were taken.
I plan on taking a moisture meter and checking a fresh split and will not buy anything that isn't properly seasoned.
Any advice on how to explain what I'm looking for and turn down offers on wood that isn't suitable for burning?
I'm not looking to spend my saturday debating with some redneck about seasoned wood, and don't want to offend anyone who might take things a little too personal.
