I have a Kozy Heat Chaska 34 insert that was installed in 2018. In 2018 we took down half of the chimney brick to take the weight off, in earthquake country. We just did a house lift and had to demo the part of the chimney that was still brick and housed the gas insert. We would like to re use the insert now but we don’t want to have to put the chimney back with brick. We want to try and build a non combustible chimney for it to sit in and attach it to the upper half that’s still existing. Does anyone have any ideas? Do I need to just bite the bullet and purchase a new gas fireplace that isn’t an insert?

Honestly I would try to sell it and start over with a zero clearance. You will be happier in the long run and have a much larger fire viewing area
