Anyone running their FPX44 without the steel grate? The front bar looks like it needs to stay but I'm wondering if anyone removed their moveable grate and just build fires on the brick?

Removed the grate for the fire last night - was way easier to clean out the ash before starting the fire and also creates more room. Thanks for the guidance.

and depending upon the ash, leave it, most people burn for days until it's too much and can't get any more in there, for it's maybe every other week or so.
