Went into my exhaust with a long lint dryer brush bent in half. Covered my arm with a couple of plastic sleeves that newspapers are sometimes delivered in. Well, to my amazement, from way in, i dragged out chunks of solid ash . Tried the stove after that & what a difference. This was done from the outside of the house . By the way, i have a log home & have been burning for 2 seasons & my home has no "residue" on the outside with such a short exhaust. Hopes this helps people . Muss . PS. i've cleaned it several times but had never really gone all the way in
