Fisher..to floorless...to Lopi

We had a lot of work that needed to be done to put in our stove...starting with taking out the old Fisher, the stones around it, the floor in the whole room...lol. The living room is an addition to our cottage, and it was a 2" step down from the original cottage into it when we bought the place-now, it's flush. That's how bad the joists were. In fact, it looked like there was no sill originally it had rotten away so much. Most people here will be able to see the obvious issue with the fisher's install...but just in case-it was so close to the stones behind it, it was actually cemented into it in the back corners!

EDIT: lol, it loaded weird, so it's all catywhompus...you can pretty much get the sequence though!

Yup...and that's just the first room. All new electric too-there were two circuits in the whole place. That room (everything), a light in a side room, the bedroom, kitchen ceiling light and fridge were all on one 15 amp breaker. But we knew it when we bought it, so we can't complain. I didn't expect the whole sill to be MIA, but I wasn't surprised with anything else.

Thanks! My "masterpiece" so far. Real stones. Took about 10 hours to grout...because even though I sealed the stones-twice-the grout needed to be scrubbed off each one because it tried to stick to them. DH tried for about 1/2 an hour and gave up helping, lol. Took several hours to collect them from our property too, had to get them all about the same thickness of course. Set on Hardiboard. We couldn't agree on tile, and there weren't many other options...and free was right in our price range with all the reno costs. I've seen field stone hearths before that I liked, so I decided to try this and we really like how it turned out. Plus it's cool that they are all from our property.

Great looking job you've done with installing that Lopi! That was quite the bit of reno-work to get to that point... Impressive! Stay warm and welcome to the forum! Nice to have another "local"'on here.

No kidding...Dh and I did some, and a friend that's a GC came and helped DH with some big stuff like putting in the doors while I was at work. Any time it got frustrating DH just looked out the doors, lol. This is a great motivator:
