i've been looking and responding to ads and placing ads for a few weeks with zero luck and with no plans today, i got a call for a downed tree in a backyard. it was 'big and long and some kind of hardwood' said the man on the other end. ran over and it was indeed big and long with the upper end bucked up along with a lot of the thicker limbs. fired up the saw and cut some more up and filled my poor Subie to the brim and got home and unloaded. headed back and there was a pickup leaving with a big load but there was still the big chunks left so i helped an old guy turn and cut the big stuff (thanks LogRite!). i had to split some stuff on the spot to get it more manageable and this time left a little breathing room. this round had more of the trunk pieces. so here's the pics. i think it's maple, but i have no honest clue. any leaves and seeds were buried under piles of sawdust. regardless, i got to stretch my legs and can refine my method and, uh, start looking for a trailer.
things went so quick, i think i can do much larger scores if it's closer or i have more space to haul. great workout too!
