I have a 20 year old LPG Majestic 36 DVRP fire place. it is controlled by a wall switch (no thermostat). I turn the switch on, the fireplace lights (most of the time... if it fails to light, I just flick the switch a couple times then it lights) Once lit it will burn nicely just until the point where it heats up and the blower fan should be kicking on... then the fireplace spontaneously extinguishes.
The interesting part... if I leave the switch on eventually (within 20 minutes or so) the fireplace will spontaneously re-ignite... it will burn nicely, warm up, the blower fan will turn on and the fireplace will run continuously for as long as I want (all day if I choose) until I extinguish it by turning off the wall switch. (operates as expected, normal)

I feel like it just started operating in this fashion since I began running the fireplace this past fall. For the past 4 years we owned the house, we just flipped the wall switch and the unit operated accordingly.

What's going on here!?! Any thoughts? Where should I start to troubleshoot?

Pull the switch & disconnect the wiring. Touch the ends of the wires together. If the fireplace functions correctly, replace the switch. They wear out & should be replaced every 15 years…
