My XXV stove was installed today and when walking downwind from the exhaust vent I noticed the smell coming from the vent was the faint smell of wood burning. I was not expecting any smell but faint aroma of wood burning, cool ! Is this normal ?
Not normal, i would call the installer (if you had one) and if not then get some alum tape and cover all parts of the exhaust seams, all of them. Also make sure doors are secure, hopper lid is closed etc..

You are talking about outside aren't you? You shouldn't smell smoke inside except for a whiff at start up. Though you will smell odors during initial burn as stove cures. Open widows during this time. 3 hours or so.
