I'm looking for some advice or insights regarding my Enviro FPI pellet stove. I've had this unit since we installed the insert back in 2010 (it's a 2009 model). Over the years, I’ve updated it with newer circuit boards and replaced the combustion fan/motor and circulation blower a few years ago.
This season, after firing it up for the first time, I’ve noticed that it feels like it’s running hotter than usual. Specifically, the back end of the insert (pellet hopper area, etc.) is noticeably hot, which hasn’t been the case before. Despite this, none of the safety switches are tripping.
I always make sure to keep the stove clean:
Given the increased heat, I’ve tried a couple of adjustments:

I always make sure to keep the stove clean:
- I do several good cleans throughout the season.
- At the end of the season, I tear it down completely, clean out all the ash
- I always sweep my pipe (25 feet, straight up) a few days before firing it.
Given the increased heat, I’ve tried a couple of adjustments:
- Increased the combustion trim.
- Opened the exhaust vent a bit more.
For context:
- I typically run the stove 24/7 at Level 2 during winter, bumping it up to Level 3 on really cold days.
- Right now, I need it to maintain Level 1 operation without overheating or running inefficiently.
Thanks in advance,
Andy
