Enviro EF2 insulation and damper question

Hi all! New to this forum and have two questions for anyone more knowledgeable than me (likely everyone haha).

First: my insulation behind the firebox lining has started to fall apart. I have a brand new fiber blanket meant for metalwork kilns, I’m wondering if it would be an appropriate substitute for the genuine part? Looks the exact same including size, just doesn’t have a hole cut in it for the pellet dispenser pipe thing. I would order the actual part but It would take way too long to get here.

Second question, my damper plate has been stuck fully open since I’ve moved in here. I’ve tried everything to get it to wiggle, and nothing. Finally a loosened the bolts behind it (circled in red in the included photo) just slightly and now it’s able to move freely. Everything is still securely attached, is this ok to leave slightly loosened?

Can you send a photo of the lining that is falling apart
Yes you can level the lock nut loose but a little snug. So the gate slides OK
How long have you had the stove in use? how many bags /tons of pellets have you burnt?

Oh gosh I’m not sure. It was used a bit before I moved in, and this is my third winter running it daily. Unfortunately after rechecking the fiber blanket I have is slightly smaller than th original

I think I have fingered out what you mean It is the insulation between the pellet hopper wall and the
firebox liner
To answer your question yes if it is the same size or can be cut to that size just cut the pellet slide hole out and use it
It is to keep heat away from the pellet hopper wall. When was the stove completely cleaned, firebox to exhaust termination?

Unfortunately my piece is a little too short width wise, so I’ll have to order the part and use the old insulation until it comes.

I take the entire stove apart and clean it yearly, although the exshaust pipes out past the wall have not been cleaned since I’ve moved in.

To replace mine I used Rock Wool insulation (left over from some project)
cut to size and covered with foil tape. That was 20-some years ago still using the same unit
If you have not done a complete tear-down cleaning it is past due. That unit is built like
a rock but still needs some loving

i have taken the whole thing apart right up until it meets the wall. Past there I’m a bit out of my depth but will definitely be looking into hiring someone before next season to get it clear!
