I recently installed an Empire dv35sg (lp gas) and the millivollt thermostat that came with the heater had a 4 degree temp swing between cycles. I replaced it with a Honeywell Pro 1000 which has a 1 degree dead band, and it works much better in the space I’m heating. My question is, will the Honeywell’s resulting shorter but more frequent cycling cause excessive wear and tear on the gas valve and the heater in general? Thanks, Dan

I doubt it. Turning on & off is what the unit is designed to do. A central heating system works the same way. That being said, scheduled maintenance is desirable…
