Hello -

I have a Duravent square ceiling support box and am going to use Duravent double-wall stove pipe. I am uncertain whether I need an adapter 1. to connect the stove with my telescoping DVL piece and 2. to connect the telescoping DVL to the ceiling support box. If so, which ones. Thank you!

Yes, there is an adapter ring to attach the stovepipe to the support box.

For the stove, it depends on the stove's flue collar inside diameter. Some don't need an adapter and some do.

So on the bottom side of the ceiling adapter - that male piece fits into the adapter you show and the black ring is then flush with the adapter? And then, on the bottom side the adapter you show is the male and connects into the female portion of the DVL? I have an Osburn 2000 but for the life of me can't see the exact specs. When I bought it and was thinking single wall, I was sold an adapter. Thanks.

Yes, one end inserts into the support box, the other inserts into the mating DVL stovepipe. I screwed the black flange to the support box before installing the stovepipe.

Try out a section of DVL for fitment into the flue collar. It may not need an adapter. The DVL flue collar adapter tends to be too loose on several stoves.

OK, here is why I am confused. Attached is a picture of a female end of 6 inch Duravent over the 6 inch Duravent male portion...there is a substantial gap. What am I missing? Thanks.

Is the support box sitting on the floor in this picture? That looks like a section of single wall stove pipe, not double-wall.

It may be just coincidence, but is this the support box you are working with?

Hi - yes. That is exactly what I have. It's on the floor as I am building my ceiling. I bought single wall pipe and have it (may take back and go to double wall). So yeah, it's that "2" model and there are no viable instructions/parts to close that gap. I suppose I could ship this "2" model back and get the "1" but don't love taking the shipping hair cut. Thanks again - very appreciated.

The "2" sure looks like it's designed for single wall.

I am not convinced this is a better or good design. Flattening out the crimp is going to be hit or miss and more likely missed by most DIY installs.

It's funny to note that in spite of touting the new design, the beauty shot at the beginning of the new Duratech catalog, has the previous style support boxes shown.
