So I received my Drolet 1800i today and I'm a little disappointed in the finish. Top plate is bare or chipped in places and looks to have generally very thin coverage. I haven't even looked at the front door area yet. I realize the factory paint on these is thin but this looks like a poor finish. If I didn't know I would say it was used or a reject. What to do...send it back? Is this finish fairly common with stoves....this is my first. Is this what I have to settle for with the Drolet price point....??

Looks like the paint was damaged by the folks that uncrated it or mishandled by the installion crew. A can of Stove Bright high heat satin black should take care of it. I’d contact the dealer & have him send a tech to touch it up.

It just arrived (still in the crate) ...so no one touched it after leaving the factory and its well positioned in the crate. This all appears to be before it shipped.
I'm sure a touch up will be noticable and my concern is that all of the paint is thin. Basically I wouldn't buy this if I saw it in a showroom....or I'd want a decent discount.

A friend got a proper finish too.
I'd contact Drolet, with pics showing it's still in the crate, and the above.

From what I've heard, their customer service is good.

Mine looked just like yours when I picked it up. I sent them pics and they sent me two cans of paint. Free.

I had to touch up mine in a few spots upon receipt last year but it cured just fine. Can’t even tell where I painted. I used the SBI paint.

Thanks. Did the paint apply easily and look seamless? Sounds like this happens a lot with them. Simply adding a thin layer of foam on the top between the crate and the stove would seem to avoid some of these surface scrape issues.

After two burns the transition was seamless. Couldn’t even tell where the touch up was.
