Thank you.

I just picked up some 1,000 degree JB Weld ExtremeHeat. I'm gonna patch the crack .
Continue to monitor this season.

You might get lucky but chances are you won’t…you’ll be risking an even bigger job…more 2c

Sorry for hijacking the thread. But in my Quest I have never replaced the burn pot. I have been burning between 1 to 2 tons a year for over 25 years.

Why do some stoves wear out or burn through the burn pot and others the burn pot lasts for years? Is it due to how pellets make it to the burn pot? My Quest drops pellets into the burn pot.

Thanks

Good Question
my 22-year-old Enviro still uses the original burn pot
with 3 to 4 tons put through it each year. It could be because
the pellets are dropped in, burnt and the ash blown out. so
when the fire goes out the pot is clean, no clunkers, built up of
ash or unburnt pellets

I would be looking to replace it, this seemed to be more of an issue on some models for some reason and I believe they redesigned the burn pot to keep this from happening. Make sure you get the gasket behind it and if it were me I would also replace the igniter while apart, keep your old one as your spare.

Their should be no ignitor wire exposed to the burn area. probably would not hurt to have a spare burn pot on hand if you want but its not going to leave you without heat and fail totally you will see it get worse over time.

The cheap metal they make burn pots out of now is a joke. I have replaced mone 2x in the last 5 years yet the original lasted much much longer and actually wore a home in it instead of cracking. I find the new ones crack in the first year and when i contact the supplier im told that's not a manufacturer defect and do nothing. Its one of the more popular suppliers out their for store parts as well

I would. That crack probably widens as the burnpot heats up & a piece of a burning pellet falling thru it onto the igniter wiring could potentially compromise the sheathing. The chance of an electrical short could cause more problems… Just my $.02…
Excellent reason!!!
