Have been interested in switching my sharpener to a diamond wheel, but don't want to spend $200.00 for one as seen in a popular online supply catalog. Anyone have any experience with them, or know where to get them at a better price?
I run a cyclone wheel there in the 250.00 range (Awesome wheel btw). Best I can tell you if your dont making moey with one us a stone. Stone seem to be better using cool grind (couple bucks a stick and last a long time). Less dust and a nice smooth taps. Hope that helps.
Diamond wheels are not for steel. CBN is the material for chainsaw blades, yes they are expensive, they do last a long time, No dressing required to reshape and can be replated, which saves a bit when a new one is needed. Cleaner grinding, less dust ect. But $250 buys a lot of standard stone wheels.
