Have you brushed out , and vacuumed out , the area inside the burn pot by removing the two thumb screws ?
You need a small nozzle vacuum and a round style brush to get in there and twist push and pull and twist. More vacuum .

This is the Air Flow. The fines from wood ash get inside the metal fins of heating coil ignitor . It acts as an insulator. Preventing fires from being started.
If regular preventative maintenance is not done. This continues to heat hotter and longer. This could cause damage to the burn pot surface .

Regardless clean out all the ash on the inside and it should work out good for you . You'll get a fire much faster too. And more efficientcy.

Lastly when you stick a brush in there. Brush gently. Be delicate with those ceramic wires. That's your coil wires and you don't want to break them. Then it's much more work. You can be a little rough, but don't twist them like a maniac
