I’m looking for thoughts on repairing my Master’s Choice stove.
First, I noticed that the back of the firebox has warped causing the seam at the top to open. Can I use Rutland Furnace Cement to repair this and keep an eye on it to make sure it is holding? I also might be able to get someone to weld it for me.
Second, regarding the secondary burn chamber, is there supposed to be an iron plate between the main fire box and the secondary burn chamber? Mine seems to be missing that and it kind of looks like maybe it was supposed to be removable. I’m assuming it is fine to burn without it, it will just be less efficient. Can I just get a 1/4” cast iron plate to put up there?
Am I trying to hard to make this stove usable? It came with the house and I would love to be able to heat with wood (my wife and I both grew up with wood heat), but if this is just going to be a money pit, I guess I would rather start saving for a new or used stove.
