DC fan for Regency i1500?

Sometimes we are interested in using a lower/quieter fan setting than the lowest speed on our i1500 insert.

Does anyone know if retrofitting an airblaze or other DC fan would be an option?
 
I think you could use a fan/motor control on it by being sure that the fan switch is set to High first. That would provide a larger speed range. This could be a plugin option or perhaps hard-wired if there is room.
