I'm not sure about metafab, but often the mfg. makes a 6" damper piece for this part. I looked at their catalog but didn't see this option in their double wall pipe.
I installed a 6" damper "kit" (with the damper, hinge/pin thing, and retainer spring) in a double-wall pipe a few years ago. Removed the pipe, drilled two holes, and installed the damper. It worked fine for me--maybe that would be an option for you.
I will be installing a Hearthstone Mansfield. It seems from following the forum that this stove might benefit from slowing things down a little. also if I would ever get into a overfire condition I want to be able to shut it down.......
