My wife and I are looking for a new stove as a replacement for a Vermont Castings. Our current stove is a fussy stove to run.

Our house is a single story under 1100 square feet, and the floorpan is not an open one. Our chimney and hearth pads are located in the living room.

One of the stoves we are considering is an F35.

We'd like to hear about people's experience with the F35. We do not particularly care about burn times or efficiency, but we do care a good deal about simplicity, the ability to control heat, and the ability to keep the glass clean.

Any thoughts?

I haven’t seen any reviews on the F35 but I have the F45 and I can say it is a very easy to operate stove and out of the many stoves I’ve owned its glass stayed the cleanest.

Checkout the pacific energy T4.

The F35 should fit all those requirements. About how tall is if from stovetop to chimney top? Is the flue system 6" all the way up?

If that is the Alderlea, I have been looking around online. It looks awesome, but I am seeing prices roughly $2400 more 2400 ($5300 for the Alderlea) than the Jøtul. Perhaps the local shops have been prices, but I have not had a chance to call for quotes yet. If you've purchased one recently and don't mind telling me what you paid via PM, I'd appreciate it.

I'll have to check the installation notes. We have double-wall stovepipe. We had it installed professionally back in 2021 (I think that was it, although it might have been 2022).

I think I do recall that the flue system is all one diameter, though.

F35 isn't a new model is it? I'm looking at a 2023 catalog that lists it.

I have been investigating the PE Alderlea T4 LE and T5 LE, but $2500 is $2500. And both brands have good reputations.

Unfortunately, the F45 has been discontinued. Stove prices took a hefty jump during the pandemic. If you think prices are high now, wait until next fall.

You can call around to your local shops and see if there’s any F45’s around. I saw one in my local shop a month ago. I just sold mine for what I paid for it 4 years ago. Prices have definitely gone insane the last few years.

Seems like the F445 Holliday or F445 Holliday CF would be the closest thing, then.
The F445 is a very different animal. It's a radiant, cast iron, E/W loading, catalytic, stove. Approx firebox size of 1.7 cf. Though not fully loadable due to the E/W orientation of the wood. It's also new on the market, so no track record yet.

Their marketing language fooled me. "the Jøtul F 445 combines the best aspects of a typical non-catalytic wood stove with groundbreaking Jøtul High Flow™ Combustor technology to create a clean-burning wood stove that operates without the need for a bypass." LOL I thought non-catalytic meant non-catalytic but apparently not.

Hopefully it's going to be a very good stove, but we don't know yet.
