Hello,
I'm new to this site but i was wondering what opinions were on using concrete for standing stoves like this one here:

(broken link removed to http://www.weltevree.info/ENG/collection/stonestove-20)

Would it work in terms of radiating heat properly like soapstone?
Does anyone know whether any particular concrete is best?
Thanks!
Niels

Welcome to the forum Neils.

Concrete generally will soak up lots of heat but is a poor reflector of heat. People who install wood stoves in basements find that all the heat goes into the concrete (unless it is insulated) and they get very little benefit from all that heat generated by the stove. So compared to soapstone, I would say there is no comparison.

Good luck to you.
