The Stove I wish to purchase ( Hearthstone Shelburn) has a listed side clearance of 13" to combustibles with double wall connector. I am just short of that by 2 inches. The NFPA states that clearances can be reduced by 66% given their wall shield suggestions, but at the bottom of the page it states that 12 inches is the minimum reduction. Is that for unlisted stoves or all stoves?

The 12" clearance minimum is for all stoves unless the stove's documentation permits less or the mfg. lists their own, NFPA211 shield-reduced clearances. The exception being that clearances may be reduced via the proper shielding system with the additional approval of the inspecting authority having jurisdiction in your area.

If only reducing it down to 11" it would likely be safe with proper shielding, but if there was a stove related issue, the insurance company would probably not cover.
