Just a reminder for everyone that the very first step when having any flame/burning issues is to thoroughly clean your stove and vent.

I only say this because I am amazed at how big of a difference it can make. I have a USSC 6500. I have it setup to a thermostat where it runs on low (which I have configured at a feed rate that makes it like a pilot light) and then kicks up to medium or high when there is a call for heat. Last time I cleaned it I just scrapped out the fire pot with my putty knife. All the holes were open, but the ones at the bottom had some ash build up in them making them slightly smaller. We have gotten some colder weather and with the stove running on high more often I noticed quite a bit of ash build up in the burn pot, to the extent that it would almost overflow over the back (where he agitator pushes it to). This time when I cleaned it I took the burn pot to the shop and cleaned it with the wire wheel on my grinder. Since then the stove has been running on medium/high almost constantly with zero ash build up. Huge difference!!!
