Not sure what you mean by "stains', but if you mean the usual brownish buildup, the easiest & cheapest is to take a paper towel or a soft rag, wet it, and dip it into some fine stove ash and wipe the glass....should come right off. Sometimes water by itself on the rag will do.

damp towel w/ash works great, but when it wont come off i use the stove top cleaner for porcelain glass tops

I use ceramic glass cleaner for electric cooktops OR windex depending on my mood ;-)
Better to spray to paper towel rather than directly to the door so it does not get on
the gasket.

windex makes it worse, stay away

I use windex on the glass when cool. why do You think it makes it worse?

I use a damp two sided sponge. And a paper towel.

One of those yellow sponges with the plastic green scrubby side.

Just dampen the sponge with water. Wipe the glass with the sponge to get the easily lifted ash/crud.

Then flip it over and scrub the brown areas with the green side. It comes right off.

Once scrubbed I wipe it dry with the paper towel.

Toss the towel. And rinse off the sponge for next time.

Takes about 5 seconds to complete.

Mr. Clean Magic Erasers works great!!

I use vinegar and water.

I have some "etching" (is that what it's called) where even though the glass is clean to the touch, it has a smoky or cloudy look to it. Would the ash get that off?

I also vote for Mr. Clean Magic Eraser....... Works like magic!!!!!
