My Jotul F 500 is connected to a straight flue pipe beginning at the smoke outlet. No bends in the flue. Burning seasoned hardwoods only I get some creosote which falls into the smoke outlet. During high usage the smoke outlet becomes reduced with creosote affecting the draw hence function. To remedy and remove the build up I have to remove the flue pipe to access the smoke outlet. A major headache. Any suggestions to eliminate the removal of the flue pipe is greatly appreciated. We love our Jotul!

There should be an oval cover plate on top of the stove that gives you access to the top of the baffle and flue collar.

The other question is how to avoid the creosote from forming in the first place.

How tall is your flue from stove top to chimney cap?

How do you know your wood is dry enough?

Yup season your wood longer and try to burn a bit hotter.
