I have a wood burning fire place and I had my chimney cleaned before the winter season sets in and during the process they noticed the flue had come apart mid way up. Everything I've read says they cannot be reattached due to the pipes being potentially damaged and that's why they came apart. My question is, can I run a chimney liner through the existing flue or will it all have to come apart and install all new?

Install all new. But I wouldn't say the pipes can never be put back together

It may be possible to run a 6" insulated liner inside the clay liner if the goal is to heat with a wood burning insert in the fireplace.

The liner is self contained so I would think you shouldn’t have to touch the clay tiles. It will cost you a ton of money to rebuild the masonry chimney top to bottom.

The liner needs to be used with an insert. I was in a similar boat you’re in last year. I installed and insert and couldn’t be happier.

It sounds to me like its a prefab chimney. They mention pipes

Right you are. And an insert may be out if this is a ZC fireplace.

I must have missed that part. I just assumed when he said pipes he meant the clay tiles.

Definitely needs to start over then

can i replace with this?
What is this chimney attached to?

Can you post a picture of the fireplace?

Runs up the interior chimney and out thru the chase with a chimney cap.
That pipe absolutely cannot co in a chase. It is connector pipe not chimney pipe
