I am looking to heat a highway building with a wood boiler.
The e-classic 2300 is one of the 2 main options I am considering.
If we went that route I was considering using an 18' stack.
One possible location for the boiler would be about 60' from the building.
Last night I checked a wood boiler nearby.
Someone had mentioned this had a smoking problem.
And it does.
Last night it was laying down a heavy blanket of smoke which was spreading well beyond it's property.
The chimney appeared to me to be at least 12' high and maybe higher.
So I got to thinking that maybe an 18' stack isn't enough.
(Also it seems to me that an 18' freestanding stack is sort of high - without any additional support).
Since the highway building is concrete I should be able to put the boiler right next to the building.
In which case I could run the chimney up to almost 40'.
Anybody have any thoughts on if that would be too high.
My own feeling is that everything else being equal the higher the better.
Also putting the boiler right next to the building would make hookup a lot easier.
