So I recently was questioning about the weird way I have to close my Mansfield.... how I had to sorta lift the handle up then push it down for it to close. Well I went to the dealer a few weeks ago to check out their floor models and every Hearthstone stove had a latching mechanism different from the one I had... So I talked to the guy and got a replacement (under warranty) of the latch mechanism. I know there were a few people who said that they had a similar situation. Well I got the replacement latch today so I figured I would post the pics.
First pic, the semi-circle is the original latch that caused the situation. I do not know if this is the wrong latch, or what not.
Second pic , the rectangle one, is the replacement latch. Much easier to use just close, push down, and go.
Third pic is a side by side comparison of thickness. Replacement is much thicker.
Did Hearthstone change latches recently, I don't know, but the replacement that I received seems like a much better latch.
Is your latch like original or the replacement unit.
(edit) Ok the posting flips them so first is third and third is first...
