Picked up another 026 today. It was calling to me on CL................ A guy was selling his grandfather's 026, with the case and 2 tools and some files. It was in very nice shape except missing the air filter cover. Story was his grandfather bought it years ago to cut down 3 trees on their small city lot in Cleveland. They don't burn wood, so that was the only use it had all these years. Whether true or not, I got it for $200. He was asking $220, but I got him down $20 for the missing cover.......................

Also doing my last "old ammo trade" deal tomorrow to pick up two 031AVs. I responded to an ad for a really nice 031AV for $175. The guy was definitly interested in an ammo trade. The guy even insisted on putting me on speaker phone while he went in the garage and started it up so I could hear how great it ran! Just love those kind of sellers don't you! Once talking, it turned out that he had another one that also ran great (we'll see tomorrow). He bought it as a future spare for his #1 saw. The best part is he wanted some of all the odd calibers left that no one else had wanted: 22 short, .32, .380, .44 mag reloads, 6.5x55, 7.62x39, 7.62x54, 8mm, and old 12 ga 2 3/4" "rifled" slugs (have some nice old Brenneke), buck/steel/lead shot. $250 for 2-031AVs, couldn't turn that down.
You might ask yourself "why would I want old 031AVs" (I love those saws)? In my sig you can see that I already have one, however after doing a fairly significant rebuild on it, I'm still not satisified with how it runs. Its ok, cut a tank full of gas with it the other day, but something is still just "not there, not quite right". I figured that now I will have a great running one to swap parts from and can isolate the issue on the other, plus a backup to sell, or for parts. Makes sense to me.
And after making unsuccessfull serious inquiries into a 056 in Michigan, and an 075 in Buffalo, I think I have the high end of the CAD disorder worked out of my system without actually having pulled the trigger on either of those. My 460 mag will rule the throne at this residence henceforth. I will actually probably end up selling a few of the smaller ones now ..................... there, I actually said it, sell some of them..................... yes, I'm cured!
