My Jotul C450 Kennebec insert has the usual overpriced cheap blower assembly and it has started vibrating and making a lot of noise. With a dog often curled up in front if it, the blower does ingest hair and other crud, so I clean it every season. But the vibration and noise are getting worse. Today I took it apart and found very little junk in the screens and impellers and vacuumed out what there was, after using a toothbrush to loosen caked on crud on the blades. Rotating the impellers I do not feel any binding or rough spots, so the bushings (not bearings; don't I wish) seem OK.
I also put a tiny bit of Roxul under the long, unsupported piece of sheet metal above the blower motor shroud that contains the unit serial number, date of manufacture, and various safety warnings, just in case that is what's vibrating. I'll test it next fire (no point jumping the snap switch because to get at the wiring, the most likely sheet metal noise culprits are not in place).
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
-dan
