east oh
not sure if i asked this questions, if i did can`t find the answers. i`ll try again..........

i have the above, if i install a fireplace insert { cat, non cat } high efficency or not do i need to line the chimney with s/s or some kind of liner or can i just connect the insert to the fireplace damper & burn it. ??

thanks, herman

Install a full liner.
1. Your insert will draft better...keeping smoke OUT of your living area...
2. It will be easier to clean the liner by brushing everything into the insert - instead of pulling the insert back out...
3. You will be able to get a "tighter" install... with a block off plate & or insulation in the damper area to keep the heat in your home...
