I have a cast brass door and legs on my Lopi Endeavor. I have really grown to regret my decision to get the stove in brass. Does anyone have any tips to maintain the brass without the monthly, hour long tear down/ polish session that I'm doing now? I use Flitz and it works well but very work intensive. Im really considering dropping a few hundred bucks to buy a new door and leg set to do away with the constant upkeep. Thanks for any advice.

You could let it develop that rich brown patina of old brass, and enjoy it that way. People pay big bucks for that patina if it is on a Tiffany lamp.

I had the same issue and learned to just let it darken. If bare brass gets hot, it oxidizes, so there's not much you can do without coating it maybe. I wonder if there is some kind of high temp clear coat that you could use?

Yes!...

I had an a Lopi Answer, with brass door and legs. They'd stay shiny all summer long, but light a fire or two, and wow, they got tarnished. Brasso will NOT work satisfactorily any more, since the EPA made them remove the aromatic organics. I found that Ceramic stove top cleaner was 10 times faster than brass cleaner anyway. It did not appear to scratch at all. I used it for two burning seasons. It took maybe 5 minutes to do the door and legs to a polished shine. MUCH less rubbing! (We left the stove when we sold the house. 'Was a great stove, BTW.)

Good luck, and

Regards,
